Position Description:
Community Music School of Springfield seeks a part-time teaching assistant intern for our Prelude Preschool of the Arts, which offers arts-centered preschool programming for children ages 2.9 – 5 years. Social connection, love of learning, and fostering creativity are hallmarks of Prelude Preschool. You will work with Prelude Preschool teachers to help provide early learners with the tools they need for a bright future. This is an entry-level position designed to help individuals in college or just starting out with their careers build their resumes, networks, and experience.
At this time (March 31, 2025) we have 1 open position for the remainder of this school year (through June 18) and 2 openings for the summer (June 20 – August 1).
This position includes 12 hours of paid online training with the MA Department of Early Education and Care prior to starting in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Prelude Lead Teachers to help implement their arts-integrated curriculum
- Comply with all EEC Guidelines and Regulations
- Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all students
- Maintain consistent punctuality and reliability for all shift hours assigned
What you will learn/skills you will gain:
- Implementation of arts-integrated early childhood education curriculum
- Firsthand experience with the impact of arts-centered education on very young children
- Compliance with EEC guidelines and regulations
Required Qualifications:
- Experience providing childcare for ages 2.9-5
- Responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills; Ability to communicate compassionately and respectfully with people from a different races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Interest in early childhood education and/or arts integration
- Ability to work collaboratively and share responsibility with colleagues, develop and maintain positive working relationships
- Open to learning new things and adaptable to change and new environments
Preferred Qualifications: Fluent in English and Spanish
Compensation: $17 per hour
