Danielle Russo received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and Education and her Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has taught a variety of percussion to all ages and experience levels. She directed the state championship winning Shepherd Hill Winter Percussion Group for two years and has five years of experience teaching grades PreK to 12 in the Worcester Public Schools and Northampton. At UMass, she studied under renowned percussionists Ayano Kataoka and Thomas P. Hannum. During her time as a graduate student, Danielle was teaching assistant to the University of Massachusetts Amherst Marching Band, led and performed with the Marimba Band, and instructed the Marimba Ensembles and Drum Line. Danielle is an active gigging ensemble, chamber, duet, and solo percussionist. She currently resides in the Worcester area and provides private lessons and small group instruction on marimba, percussion, and drum set.
