Children’s Chorus sings with Young@Heart!

CMSS’ Children’s Choruses of Springfield are excited to announce their first-ever collaboration with the internationally-renowned chorus, Young@Heart.
The two groups will present an inter-generational concert entitled Mash-Up VIII. The program will include the pop and rock classics Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall,” The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” Neil Young’s “Old Man” among others.
Who is Young@Heart? From The New York Times to TIME, The Ellen Show to The Daily Show and stars of the hit Fox Searchlight documentary, Young@Heart, this group of seniors, ranging in age from 75-94, has performed from Northampton to New Zealand, Europe to Japan, on over 55 tours around the world proving it’s “possible to grow old without growing boring.
The Children’s Chorus of Springfield has been steadily growing in size and renown having survived the pandemic. The Children’s Chorus of Springfield teaches music literacy through singing, cultivates a generation of leaders and ambassadors for Springfield through song, and encourages the active participation of our city’s youth in the Springfield’s vibrant arts community. They were most recently invited by the Governor, Maura Healy, to sing for the Holiday Open House at the Massachusetts State House.
The concert will be held at the Academy of Music in Northampton, MA, on Saturday, April 20 at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30.
