Community Music School of Springfield seeks a part time (20 hours/week) Multidisciplinary Arts Program Manager

Position Summary:
The purpose of this role is to develop and implement multidisciplinary arts programming (music, dance, visual art) for CMSS. Programming will take place at CMSS and at other sites throughout Springfield after-school, on Saturdays, and during short-term in-school artist residencies. This is a 20-hour per week program management position, with on-site presence expected, especially when new programs are beginning, to support their success. This individual is responsible for managing program logistics and supporting student recruitment and retention. This position reports to the Executive Director, and coordinates with the Sonido Musica Program Director, Sonido Program Coordinators, the Director of Faculty and Education, and the Enrollment Manager to ensure integration and alignment with other CMSS programs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate weekly after-school and Saturday classes, ensembles and workshops, and in-school artist residencies:
- Work with CMSS faculty and community members to determine culturally relevant genres and themes
- Work with Executive Director and Director of Faculty and Education to determine appropriate teaching artists from CMSS faculty, local culture bearers, field leaders
- Work with Associate Director to coordinate staffing (e.g. teaching artists, accompanists, support staff)
- Manage scheduling and logistics
- Support program marketing and enrollment:
- Plan program marketing and publicity with Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator
- Work with Director of Faculty and Education and Sonido Musica leadership to plan and implement student recruitment activities
- Provide program information to administrative staff to facilitate registration, student referrals, and accuracy of activity listings in calendar, website, etc.
- Ensure continued student access and participation:
- Communicate with partner schools/organizations to facilitate transportation for programming at CMSS
- Leverage communication mechanisms such as the “Remind†app to remind and encourage students to attend after school and Saturday programming
- Support successful implementation and continued improvement of programming:
- Regularly attend program activities, particularly in the beginning of the year/session, to assist with logistics and identify areas of opportunity
- Create mechanisms for gathering and tracking feedback from staff and participants and enacting changes when necessary and feasible
Required Qualifications:
- Arts and Youth Programming Experience:
- Previous work experience in program management and/or arts administration
- Previous youth development work experience
- Understanding of and connections within Springfield’s educational and arts landscape
- Experience and familiarity with the arts, such as music, visual art, dance, music/art history

- Demonstrated commitment to working in and lifting up historically marginalized communities, and to equity and inclusivity, which are foundational to CMSS’ mission
- Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate compassionately and respectfully with people from a variety of races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Understanding of and interest in the musical histories and cultures that are relevant to Springfield youth (for example, past education in music history or ethnomusicology, lived experience and roots in Springfield)
- Familiarity with and comfort engaging in Springfield’s local community spaces; care for and about the Springfield community
- Competence and Effectiveness:
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, detail-oriented, with the demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and multiple ongoing projects from start to finish
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and focus in a busy environment
- Leadership skills- forward thinking, anticipates future needs and next steps for their program
- Self-directed, able to execute on tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfort working with computers, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Docs/Sheets)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a music or arts educator
- Fluent in English and Spanish

Pay rate:
$26-$30/hour depending on experience and qualifications
