Fundraising Coordinator Job Description

CMSS is an equitable and inclusive center of excellence in music education, arts learning, and cultural engagement that empowers individuals, inspires creative passion, and promotes well-being in our community.  We are seeking a responsible, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual to support our fund development activities.

This individual will develop a thorough understanding of CMSS mission, programs, priorities and history as well as CMSS individual and institutional supporters’ histories.  They will work closely with CMSS’ Associate Directors and Executive Director to implement fundraising activities, track their outcomes, and make improvements for greater impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate communication to cultivate and nurture contributor relationships with CMSS
    • Closely manage CMSS’ gift acknowledgment system, including sending timely, individualized, and accurate thank-you letters, and ensuring that individualized communications are sent to each committed donor, major donor, and potential major donor each year
  • Collaboratively coordinate fundraising events including CMSS’ Annual Spring Gala fundraiser –planning meetings, sponsorships, event program and logistics, auction, and communicating with guests
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of CMSS donor database software (Eleo) in order to be able to maintain clean data and produce meaningful reports on donor activity
    • Maintain accurate and thorough contact and gift records in donor database
  • Support executive leadership team in prospecting and securing major gifts from individuals, this may include strategizing, setting meetings and preparing materials for meetings
  • Coordinate logistics of engaging CMSS supporters through site visits, volunteer opportunities, and in-person meetings with executive leadership team and/or board of directors to discuss CMSS initiatives, share their ideas, give feedback, or become more involved
  • Support CMSS’ executive leadership team in engaging our Board of Directors to leverage their connections to secure or increase contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to accuracy
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, detail-oriented, with the demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and multiple ongoing projects from start to finish
  • Experience in fundraising; understanding of the general principles of nonprofit fundraising
  • Comfortable with computers, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite, and ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software for fundraising such as DonorPerfect
  • Ability to work collaboratively and share responsibility with colleagues
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusivity, which are foundational to CMSS’ mission
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills; Ability to communicate compassionately and respectfully with people from a variety of races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and focus in a busy environment
  • Curious and self-directed learner
  • Previous work experience in an administrative and/or fundraising role

Hours:

40 hours per week (schedule is somewhat flexible)

Starting pay rate:

$22-25 per hour depending on experience
