Carissa Lueth is a 3rd year staff member with us at CMSS, teaching Music Exploration lessons for all ages and co-directing the Youth Wind Ensemble of Springfield. This is also her 6th year as a director of our city’s own SciTech Band at the Springfield High School of Science and Technology. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a Spanish & Japanese language learner.
Carissa is a wind player at heart, down to the depths of her soul. Her favorite avenue for performance is through playing sousaphone (marching tuba) with the local street activist band, the Hartford Hot Several. With this band, she’s performed at annual events for local non-profit community organizations, rallies & protests on behalf of women, LGBTQ+, and immigrant rights, private parties, and the New England HONK Festival for Street Activist Bands. The views and advocacies that the band supports align with Carissa’s personal and teaching philosophies, which she brings to each experience.
She is very interested in and passionate about living and being actively present in the city, as the cultures and people typically are very diverse. She loves spending her time traveling and exploring the different cultures and communities throughout the world and in our very own city of Springfield.Explore all faculty and instruments
