Payments
Tuition fees for lessons and classes must be paid in full in advance or in up to nine (9) payments on the first of the month, prior to the delivery of the lessons. CMSS accepts checks, cash, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Delinquent Accounts
CMSS reserves the right to suspend or discontinue instruction of any student who is delinquent in fulfilling his/her financial obligations. The School reserves the right to charge a late fee for overdue tuition and will take appropriate action for the collection of any unpaid tuition.

Attendance Policy
Payment for all lessons, classes or workshops is required whether or not the student attends.
Students should notify the School of an absence at least 24 hours in advance as a courtesy to the teacher.

Lapsed attendance does not excuse a student from his/her obligation to pay. If the School is closed due to inclement weather, teachers will make a reasonable effort to reschedule missed lessons during the make-up periods throughout the year.

The School does not require a teacher to make up lessons for which a student is absent. The School may elect to do so to accommodate a student's religious observance (limited to 2 per School year). The student must request permission from the teacher to reschedule a lesson. Any lessons, classes, or workshops missed by the teacher whenever CMSS is in session will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time, or credited at the end of the year.

Two consecutive absences (without prior notification) from scheduled lessons, ensembles, or classes are grounds for student dismissal. Frequent tardiness, demonstrated lack of interest, and behavioral problems are also grounds for dismissal.

Tardiness
Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Faculty will wait for a student for one third of the lesson time before starting another lesson or leaving. Missed lesson time due to faculty tardiness will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

Termination Policy
Verbal or written notice of withdrawal must be made to the CMSS Registrar 2 weeks in advance of leaving. If private lessons are terminated for any reason, the student is responsible for all lessons to date. Because group instruction is dependent upon developing and maintaining a cohesive number of participants, students who withdraw from group instruction after the second class will not be given a refund or credit.

Raising Your Concerns
The School prides itself in successfully matching each student with the appropriate teacher. Not every match is perfect, however, and problems occasionally arise. We encourage you to raise your concerns immediately with Mary Ellen Miller, the Director of Faculty and Students, so that we can respond quickly and appropriately. All discussions will be held in the strictest confidence.

Class Cancellation
CMSS reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. In the event that a class is canceled, a full refund or credit for both the registration fee and any advance tuition payment is issued.

Inclement Weather Closings
CMSS may close due to inclement weather. Closings will be announced on area radio stations WHYN-FM (93.1FM), WMAS-FM (94.7FM) and television stations (Channels 3, 22 and 40). Announcements of closings are also recorded on the CMSS telephone answering system. (413) 732-8428. Do not make the assumption that CMSS will be closed based on the closing of area public schools.

Media Release
Unless notified in advance in writing, registered students give consent for CMSS to photograph, audio or videotape footage of classes, lessons and/or activities without advance notice and to publish such photos, audio and video footage royalty-free in its print, audio and electronic promotions, including its website. This consent also authorizes releases from any expectation of confidentiality for minor children of a parent or legal guardian.
