GETTING STARTED
New students are introduced to the School through an interview with the Registrar or the Director of Faculty and Students. Students are encouraged to discuss their goals and expectations at the time of registration to help determine the most suitable instructors and sequence of study. Visits to the School and tours of the facility are welcome and are easily arranged by calling ahead (413) 732-8428.

The Community Music School of Springfield operates a 37-week school year between September and June. Registration obligates a student to fulfill an entire year or special session. FINANCIAL AID
CMSS provides aid to students with a demonstrated need through the CMSS Financial Aid Program The amount of aid is based on household income, family size, financial obligations, and is limited by the availability of CMSS resources. Financial aid is limited to two private half-hour lessons per family per year, or the equivalent dollar amount per family. Financial aid does not pay for lessons/classes in full.
To apply, a Financial Aid form must be submitted with documentation of income (recent tax return or other documentation). Financial aid is considered on a case by case basis. Applications are kept confidential and must be updated yearly. Continued aid is dependent upon availability of funds, attendance and satisfactory evaluations by the teacher and/or the Director of Faculty and Students. Students receiving financial aid are not eligible for further discounts.
INSTRUMENT RENTAL
CMSS occasionally rents instruments to students, based on instrument availability. Faculty and staff will gladly assist you in making the decision to purchase or rent instruments.
