Transforming lives through outstanding and accessible arts education
CMSS engages in a variety of community partnerships and programs throughout the year in settings as varied as public schools, community centers, senior centers and treatment facilities. Since its founding CMSS has been committed to helping all students experience the joy of musical accomplishment; that commitment extends to individuals and families in as many difference circumstances as we are able to accommodate.
Our award-winning Sonido Musica program serves Springfield Public Middle Schools, where students learn to play a string or band instrument, receiving weekly ensemble music instruction at their schools. Our String Village program is a Springfield-based elementary school program where students as young as six receive weekly instruction in Suzuki violin. Our partnership with Springfield’s High School of Science and Technology provides mentoring, classes and lessons, as well as scholarships to CMSS ensembles and summer Jazz camps. Through our extensive Financial Aid program, students in our community partnership programs are eligible to receive reduced tuition to participate in our private lessons and group classes throughout the year. Our faculty also participates in a program to bring music to adults and families in statewide housing complexes, performing as many as 80 concerts each year.
CMSS’ community partnership programs are a critical aspect of making arts education accessible to under-served children. If you would like to support our community partnership efforts, please make a gift today.
